Hi everyone, I had my dla refused and eventually received the letter to advise me. I have put in a reconsideration request by telephone today. The lady who took the details from me asked me to describe how I was on a bad day, which I did. I think thats where I went wrong on the form by not doing this, just stating how things are. I tried to explain to her about the disease and quoted some information from leaflets I had got from NRAS. I also discovered that they had not contacted my GP or Consultant. I asked for this to be addressed in the reconsideration and have e mailed my GP's secretary to advise her.

I think half the problem with the decision makers for this kind of thing is that they are not medically trained and do not have in depth knowledge of this disease at all.

Here's hoping I get a good result, in anyones experience, how long does it usually take? They say 11 weeks, lets hope its not that long!

Cheers

You're right Heather, they are not medically trained and I think half the time they don't even bother to read the forms!

Good luck,

Love, Doreen xx

A friend of mine works for DLA and I confirm he has no medical training whatsoever. When I filled in my forms 2 years ago, a bloke from the CAB helped me, and used the worst case scenario day for me, rather than a general how you feel most days.
